Hey guys, hope everyone had a great new year!
I wanted to share with you guys a video recap of my fights from a BJJ competition I participated in a couple weeks ago in Bangkok, Thailand.
They hold a “Blue and White Festival” in Bangkok about 3-4 times a year and it’s a small competition that is open to white and blue belts. I was eager to compete as there isn’t much of a competition scene in Thailand and since from what I had seen through Facebook of the previous tournaments I would probably have a fair amount of competitors in my bracket.
I decided to fly up to BKK a day and a half before the competition. As it was my first time flying somewhere for a specific comp I learned a couple valuable lessons on what not to do when traveling for a competition. I’ll share them with you guys next week in an article called “The Three Nevers of Competiton Preperation”.
The tournament itself ended up being a surprising dissapointment as only three other blue belts signed up to compete and I was also told by one of the hosting gym’s coaches that “it’s not fair that you’re competing here today.”
I was pretty surprised at the situation, but it is what it is and I still was able to come away with a couple valuable lessons. The bottom line is I look at is as a valuable and positive learning experience.
Here are my fights from the competition.
Hope you enjoy.
